DRACAENA

DECEMBER 2021- JANUARY 2022

Everyone knows of how Perseaus lay waste to Medusa... But what happened to the Gorgon's who remained? What happens after the carnage of battle and the destruction of the gorgon race? ”Gorgons occur in the earliest examples of Greek literature. While descriptions of Gorgons vary, the term most commonly refers to three sisters who are described as having hair made of living, venomous snakes and horrifying visages that turned those who beheld them to stone. Traditionally, two of the Gorgons, Stheno and Euryale, were immortal, but their sister Medusa was not and was slain by the demigod and hero Perseus. “ Lesser known is one of Stheno’s descendants … Dracaena. Born from the spilled blood of her mother during battle, much like the poisonous snakes born when Medusa was slain by Perseus. Dracaena knew battle from the very start. But learning to heal from trauma, anger, and violence was something she had to deal with over time. Still haunted with dreams of sweat, blood, death, she spends the majority of her time in temples and gardens trying her best to heal not only herself, nature, and plants but others as well.
